My Approach

Zander Sprague, LPCC, is a highly skilled mental health provider who integrates the principles of Gestalt closure theory and Adler family theory into his practice. With a deep understanding of human behavior and the complexities of the mind, Zander brings a unique perspective to his therapy sessions.

Drawing from Gestalt closure theory, Zander emphasizes the importance of achieving wholeness and completion in one’s life. He helps his clients explore their unfinished business and unresolved emotions, guiding them towards a sense of closure and integration. By addressing these unmet needs, Zander enables his clients to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, fostering personal growth and self-acceptance.

In addition to Gestalt closure theory, Zander incorporates Adler family theory into his therapeutic approach. Recognizing the profound impact of family dynamics on an individual’s mental well-being, Zander explores the interconnectedness of family relationships and their influence on personal development. He helps his clients understand the roles they play within their families and how these roles have shaped their beliefs and behaviors.

Through this lens, Zander assists his clients in recognizing patterns and fostering healthier relationships within their families, ultimately leading to improved mental and emotional well-being. Zander’s comprehensive understanding of both Gestalt closure theory and Adler family theory allows him to provide effective and holistic support to individuals seeking mental health guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does tele-mental health work?

Learn more

Tele-mental health, also known as teletherapy or online therapy, refers to the delivery of mental health services through digital platforms, such as video conferencing or phone calls. Instead of visiting a therapist in person, you can connect with them remotely from the comfort of your own home. Tele-mental health allows for convenient and accessible mental health care, particularly for individuals who may have difficulty accessing traditional in-person therapy.

Through tele-mental health, you can engage in therapy sessions, receive assessments, and communicate with your therapist in a manner similar to traditional face-to-face sessions. Video conferencing platforms often provide a secure and confidential environment for therapy sessions, ensuring your privacy is protected.

How long are the therapy sessions, and how frequently should I expect to attend?

Learn more

The duration of therapy sessions can vary depending on the mental health practice and the specific needs of the individual. Typically, therapy sessions last between 45 to 60 minutes.

The frequency of therapy sessions can also vary depending on the individual’s needs and the severity of their condition. In general, therapy sessions are initially scheduled on a weekly basis to establish a therapeutic relationship and address immediate concerns. As progress is made, sessions may be reduced to biweekly or monthly intervals.

It’s important to discuss session length and frequency with your therapist or mental health practice to determine the most suitable schedule for your specific situation. They will work collaboratively with you to establish a treatment plan that meets your needs and goals.

What is your policy on confidentiality and privacy?

Learn more

Our mental health practice prioritizes confidentiality and privacy to ensure a safe and secure therapeutic environment for our clients. We strictly adhere to professional, ethical guidelines and legal requirements regarding client confidentiality. All information shared during therapy sessions, including personal details and discussions, is kept confidential unless specific circumstances require us to breach confidentiality, such as a risk of harm to yourself or others.

We take necessary precautions to safeguard your personal information and maintain your privacy. Our therapists and staff undergo training and follow strict protocols to protect your data. We utilize secure electronic health record systems and communication platforms that comply with industry standards for privacy and security.

During your initial consultation or intake process, we will provide you with a detailed explanation of our confidentiality and privacy policies. We encourage you to ask any questions or express any concerns you may have regarding confidentiality so that we can address them and ensure your comfort and trust in our practice.

What types of therapy or treatment approaches do you offer?

Learn more

We offer a range of therapy and treatment approaches tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Our team of experienced therapists are trained in various evidence-based modalities, and they work collaboratively with you to determine the most suitable approach based on your unique circumstances. Some of the therapy approaches we commonly utilize include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Focuses on identifying and modifying unhealthy thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to promote positive change.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy: Explores how past experiences and unconscious processes influence present thoughts and behaviors.
  • Mindfulness-Based Therapies: Incorporates mindfulness techniques to enhance self-awareness, reduce stress, and promote emotional well-being.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): Focuses on identifying and building upon strengths and finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems.

These are just a few examples, and our therapists may integrate multiple approaches based on your needs. During your initial assessment, we will discuss your goals and concerns to develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your preferences and therapeutic needs.

CONTACTING YOUR THERAPIST / URGENT SITUATIONS

Learn more

Your therapist’s direct telephone number is detailed on the website www.claytonclinicalcounseling.com. If your therapist is not immediately available by telephone, please leave a detailed message on the confidential voicemail. Every effort will be made to return your call on the same day you make it, perhaps in the evening, though this will not always be possible on some weekends and holidays. You will be advised ahead of time if your therapist plans to be out of town and inaccessible for a specified period. Your therapist’s outgoing voicemail message will reflect any extended absence (e.g., vacation). If you tend to be difficult to reach, please provide some times when you will be available. If you are unable to reach your therapist and feel that you cannot wait for a returned call, consider the following options: contact your family physician, call 911, or have a friend or family member you trust to stay with your or take you to the nearest hospital emergency room to ask for a mental health professional.

Dose Clayton Clinical Counseling take Insurance?

Learn more

Clayton Clinical Counseling does not accept insurance; If you have a PPO, it may be possible for you to be reimbursed; however, you (not your insurance company) are responsible for full payment of fees at the time of service.   If you have a health insurance policy, it will usually provide some coverage for mental health treatment. Clayton Clinical Counseling/Zander Sprague will provide you with a receipt of services you can submit to your insurance company.

It is very important that you find out exactly what mental health services your insurance policy covers. Some insurance providers do not cover the complete cost of psychotherapy; therefore, often there are out‐of‐pocket expenses even if you have health insurance. If you have questions about the coverage, call your plan administrator. Clayton Clinical Counseling/Zander Sprague is happy to assist in any clarification with your insurance company. This does not guarantee that your insurance company will pay.
